Oriane Sidre on Demolition

"After Dallas Buyers Club, Demolition confirms the ambiguous though regardless intriguing style of Jean-Marc Vallée. The filmmaker proposes a cinema which is divided between two stakes: that of the Hollywood tics, most notably through the psychological development of its characters, and that of his singular themes and rhythm. More so than the variations on mourning by the lead character in Demolition, the real interest of the film resides in the balance between these two aspects. Is is a balance that is sometimes precarious while on the other hand also fascinating."
